I am taking 10 mg of prednisone every day. Have ended up with an exasperation every time I try to go with less so it may be 10 forever.

Hello IanD I take 10mg of prednisone daily I'm been taking it for one year In 2015 I had surgery on my right knee and woke up intubated in ICU I had back surgery in 2018 and no intubation I've taken prednisone higher dose My pulmonary doctor prescribe 40mg for 3 days 30mg for 3 days 2o mg for 3 days and then 10mg daily That's when I feel like I'm going to have a copd outbreak I've had copd for twenty years now and I've taken prednisone several times

I am now on the 5 mg maintenance dose of,prednisone. It certainly has reduced my horrible tight chest, but my phlegm has increased. I have been having nighttime coughing, which is exhausting. My doc has prescribed ipratropium nasal spray 0.03% two inhalations each nostril twice each day and it has really reduced my coughing at night. So I think the result is swings and roundabouts, but getting a better sleep and not so much phlegm is worth it.
