@A MyCOPDTeam Member RE: Spiriva Loss Of Appetite. Hi. These inhalers medicines are nervous system stimulants, and so are quick relief inhalers including albuterol. And, also nebulizers are stimulants. Continuous use can build up in the blood over time. The percentage depends on other things too. Including either drinking more water to keep well hydrated, or less water to have dehydrated. Not only are inhalers medicines are nervous system stimulants, diet pills to reduce appetite stimulate the nervous system. When I looked over at longer lists of side effects (Medscape) and I don't know about Spiriva more paticularly, although I noticed albuterol and also Salmeterol can cause a loss of appetite under the symptoms of the side effect tachycardia leading to innumerous side effects you would mistaken for a chest cold or flu. Maybe you should tell your Pulmonologist right away, because your dose may need adjusting. You may ask to reduce your minimum dose until the lowest dose that works for you with minimum side effects. Or if that doesn't help, your Pulmonologist may need to .change your medicines. Ask your Pulmonologist to check your dosing (how many times a day and number of puffs, or amount, used recently and of all your other meds) telling your Pulmonologist about your loss of appetite and any other side effects so your Pulmonologist can help you with your health to become healthier. I hope you're feeling much better soon. Breathe easy. Mikari

Loss of appetite is not an expected side effect of Spiriva. Sometimes our lungs push down and our stomachs get smaller and less able to handle normal amounts of food, and that may be contributing to your loss of appetite. Talk with your pulmonologist to see what physical reasons there might be for loss of appetite.

Thank you for all your input ! Spiriva Handihaler really helps me. So I'm going to start looking at other reasons I'm feeling a lack of appetite.

I was on it for a while but never noticed a loss of appetite. I do not take it regularly since I did not find it to be very effective. I also took Advair and am weening myself off of it due to containing steroids. I take a multivitamin, Vitamin C, Sambucol(zinc with vit C), Mussein herb to improve breathing, and walking. Good luck whatever you decide to do @A MyCOPDTeam Member!! Take care!👍
