I don't know what it means, but pulmonary told me I was in stage 4 and if I don't quit smoking and use a c pap at night that I would die in 6 months. Well they gave me a trilogy machine and it's up to me to quit cigs. Not so hard to quit. So far it's been impossible to stay quit. I stay so depressed. This disease has control of what I can do now. And compared its horrible. As I don't watch TV nor Read... any advice?
I suggest you find a health professional who specializes in quitting and work with them. They have lots of tips and tricks, access to prescription and OTC meds, and usually have a help line that they use for those times when you're frantically trying to stay away from cigarettes. Quitting isn't easy, but there are a lot of us who managed it somehow; you can join us!
I agree with this. If you don't want to quit then you won't. Wouldn't it follow then that if you don't quit it's not because you can't but because you won't. It takes work for most people. I'm not sure there's a thing anybody else can say that will make a person quit.
Hi smoker,
Quit now or you will suffer later,I hope you don’t but I smoked and now i am doing not bad.Its because I practice Buteyko Breathing.I am drug free and I am painting our bed room ,all I am doing is breathing through my nose.
No drugs or Buteyko Breathing is guarantee to keep copd at bay .I have slowly it down but people out there on drugs until they reach stage 3 then 4 and on cylinders of oxygen.
Longer you leave copd as it is on drugs or something thing else worse it gets.
What I am trying to say to copd sufferers,in my opinion find a good Buteyko practitioner and do your research and give it go.
I am in control of my signs and symptoms when I get first signs of chest infection,I increase my breath hold and reduce my breathing, which increases my blood co2 and co2 is not just waste gas but it dilates your airway and increase uptake oxygen.
Lung transplant is not the answer either,no body is going to give anaesthetic to stage 3-4 copd sufferers and age.
If you got bad lungs you also have other bodily problems.
I wish I can do miracles but I am only a copd sufferer like you out there but drug free and Buteyko Breathing and all natural.
Improve your bodily function by good breathing.
Thats all I am going to say for now.

I used hypnosis. I was a three pack day smoker. I quit after that session and have never wanted, craved or even been bothered by smoking again. It worked for me. But you still have to want to stop.

I read your posting. I smoked from the age of approx 13 until I was 29. The birth of my son helped I must admit. My home was full of smoke as my ex wife smoked like a chimney and I picked up a load of secondary smoke.
One thing I will say Donna is you have got to want to quit. If you don’t then you won’t. You have to help yourself to help the medics to help, you. It’s not easy I admit and if you are living in a smoke filled environment it’s harder. I don’t regret stopping smoking but I do regret ever starting. Good luck Donna. Take care. Dave (Molineux)
