Pressure In The Lungs
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

Does anyone else have the uncomfortable feeling in the lungs? To me it feels like pressure. It's hard to explain I'm just so uncomfortable it like someone is squeezing me so tight. I don't know if it's possible to get some relief. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Robin

I think you need to get checked out by your pulmonologist but I'd suggest you talk very directly about how you felt, what the pain was like, your breathing, everything you can think of about this episode. Many people, especially women, have found that this sort of discussion leads to a good evaluation of your heart. It might be nothing, but if it's your heart you want to know and sooner rather than later.

Me too. Only get it if exerting myself in any way, like showering, dressing or literally any movement. It can be quite frightening and a blessed relief when it subsides. I dont take any pain relief tablets, I just let it wash over me till it goes and eventually it does. I used to panic but I have managed to train myself not to do so anymore. Take care.

@MyCOPDTeam users... @WilliamMcCrea Not sure if this will answer any questions but lets try. I have been on this site for Years and learned alot. I learned that wearing o2 when Showering stopped the issue of Being Gassed due to low o2 sats, Using a nice Terry Cloth Robe instead of the Towels to dry off stopped that feeling and the low o2 sats. I also learned from the Dr. That with COPD our lungs have sections that are Diseased and Heavier so they move down and out a little which puts pressure on other organs, For Example- If I eat too much my stomach has less room to expand due to my Diaphragm being Crowded thus putting pressure on my lungs which makes it harder to breathe. Most of us have whats called Hyperinflated Lungs, (Trapped Air) I exhale as far as I can until I think i'm going to pass out lol, Then inhale deep and hold for 10 seconds, Do that 3 times, Works for me. I also read hear about Heart Palpitations. I have had these for years and my Cardiologist says that Most people have them and Never Notice. I get bouts periodically where I feel them for a week or so then they are gone, They still stress me out. Dr. says My heart is fine but my Lungs are Shot lol.Yes Exercise plays a key role also. So yes, Get your Hearts checked and do the best you can. Like I said, The small things like when Showering with o2 and the robe when you get out made a Big difference for me. Yes still walking the dog around 1 mile every morning for 3 years now, Just keep Chugging along!! 3/24/24

Thank you everyone. I have a phone appointment on Monday. Until then I will do the liquid thing. It's been like this forever. I just assumed it's part of the COPD. And sounds like it is. It's just so uncomfortable. Again thank you, your all so helpful.
