Start out very slow. Start by walking as slowly as you can until you have to stop to catch your breath. Note the time. Do it again and again until you've done at least 15 minutes total and better than that, do 30 minutes total if you can. Once you can do 30 minutes without stopping to catch your breath, you can increase the speed until you're walking at a pace the you're comfortable with. Try to increase the intensity of the exercise by increasing the speed or the exertion level on whatever machine you're using.

As for your judgemental and mean spouse, I strongly suggest you get some counseling to help you cope. We have enough problems without dealing with a non-supportive family member. Last resort? Ditch them.

Sometimes your family can be your worst enemy if they start telling you what they think you "should"do, possibly from a position of not knowing squat!

Your doctor and RT are the best places to get info and support, as well as on this site. Not medical info here but lots of people with lots of experience and training, like @A MyCOPDTeam Member.

I too have to push myself. I started walking for 10 min and eventually I got up to 1 hr. It's really really hard every time I start but I know I have to do it. I hate how hard it is for me to get started every time but by the end Im a bit better. Good luck to you my friend. This COPD stuff is rough. Mentally and physically. But that's just me I be a bit weird lol.
