Talk with your doc about this problem; they may be able to give you some things to try to see if they work. Pineapple juice is often suggested and apparently works for some people. More water is always a good idea unless you're already floating.

Pineapple juice may help soothe coughing episodes. Water (and other fluids) in general will help keep mucus and nasal congestion low.

There are many routes to total non-smoking. Many start with the meds and chewing gums. Some find the counseling method more effective. Your doctor will be happy to assist with the options here. You just have to pick one that offers the best outcome for you. be Well.

Well Charlenereid I coughed a lot more after quitting. Even coughed up brown colored phlegm. It may be your lungs clearing out all the old tar from all those years of smoking. It got to be less and less after a few months. But you will start breathing better soon.
Pineapple does help calm your coughing if you need to try to was it.

I haven't smoked in over a month and I guess that's why I'm frustrated as I never had a cough before I quit
