Pulmonologist And Cardiologist Do Not Work Hand In Hand !?
Indeed, we have had 10+ Chest CT scan while on COPD... and they only focus on our Lungs: good but not enough.
I've had to ask myself to have a Coronarography for my heart.
Lungs & Heart when suffering from COPD is a ALL, doctors must absolutely work together to deal with both. If not, we are waisting a lot of time (decades often) on diagnosis and worst on the appropriate treatment.
🧸
I don't agree with that.
My pulmonologist is the one that sent me to see a cardiologist. After 3 months of dealing with SOB and doing all the tests and scans, it was the last thing left to check.
All my doctors work together, read my chart and see the treatments and notes on my visits with the other doctors. That is how I found out I had some heart issues.
After all the cardio tests, had a 95% blockage of my center artery of my heart.
I always make sure my test results are sent to all my doctors. It is a team of doctors.
I just had my 3rd heart cath done. And as the last three I was told my heart is healthy it's my lungs causing all my problems. Not getting enough oxygen to the lining if my heart. I have a 40% blockage but not enough for a stint. It has to be 70% or more. I just trust in my Lord and he keeps me going everyday. I took my shower and by the time I got out put on my Terry clothe robe, combed my hair got to my living room my oxygen level was 48%. Very scary! I also keep my oxygen on in the shower. Left my bathroom door open and opened the windows a little bit. When I get over heated I still turn my air conditioner unit on. If I get too hot I can't breathe. Prayers for all of us! 🙏❤️😊 my cardiologist works closely with my regular dr also. They are in the same building, they share my information. There's just nit a pulmonary dr here where I live.
@A MyCOPDTeam Member In Belgium, it's the same as everywhere: COPD patients are not recognized and taken into consideration enough, as they see us as "smokers" (or own fault) BUT since the Covid it seems things are improving regarding respiratory issues including COPD. ps. I have very severe emphysema and my heart is of course not totally healthy (atherosclerosis, some weakened valves,...) ; lack of proper O2/CO2 circulation harm a lot the heart and his vessels. Hugs and Tenderness 🧸
PO Box S as in Sam or Sales, so you’re pretty close, @A MyCOPDTeam Member. Hopefully, they will figure it out and put the mail in the correct box. I’ll let you know once I get it - hopefully, tomorrow.
So glad you’re covered against the disasters and have worked with an estate planner - everything is just so crazily expensive !
Take care of you, and Happy New Year.

Sadly, @A MyCOPDTeam Member, physician and medical care staff burnout is huge. If you can’t figure out how to manage your healthcare, you are often forgotten.
In my case, I don’t have a GP because it’s yet another co-pay, and another gatekeeper to prevent me from accessing the care I determine is reasonable and necessary.
Medicare / plus the Advantage Plan supplement tried to change all my doctors and deny me medical care by putting a GP in between me and my specialists. I gave it a try, and after 3 months denial of service (and paying for the privilege to see the GP who did nothing), I cancelled my Advantage Plan and went on the “original medicare” coverage plan, and now get all the services I need, plus at a lower cost.
Our system is crazy.
