I quite smoking 13-14 years ago, that was after many, many attempts. Was in hospital for 3 weeks, pnuemonia, chest tube and all. Knew I could not smoke again, would not live very long. I walked, ate sun flower seeds, jolly rancher cinnamon candy, changed many things I associated with smoking, plus was quitting with my daughter which helped. She too is a non smoker. It is not easy but if you quit for yourself and find your own things that help you get through it, you will be so happy and proud of yourself. Good luck and God Bless

@A MyCOPDTeam Member When i was diagnosed 8 years ago i new i had to give up and was finding it really hard. I was standing in the garden one morning smoking and every puff was agony and thought what am i doing trying to kill myself and i have to care for my son. so with that i put the cigarettes in the cupboard and thought if i need one they are there breathing got from bad to worse ended up in hospital i had lost track of time and before i knew it 4 weeks had past it was when the doctor said well done not smoking for 4 weeks and patted me on the back i felt good about it and have not looked back since. But i will say one thing you have to want to give up and have a reason to live i have reasons to live. Hope you manage it soon xxx

We are talking about your quality of life or indeed life itself. There are many, many aids to quit smoking. Remember the urge peaks get smaller and further apart each day. You can do it! I did!

CherylYoung....I quit at least 100 times until I found that I had lung cancer. Boy! That did it! I didn't realize that I had quit as I walked into the hospital to be operated on, but I quit then. I was in the hospital just long enough to get over the big hurdle and I never picked up after that and that was 14 years ago. HANG TOUGH!

@A MyCOPDTeam Member as the song goes I did it my way and the old saying if at first you don't succeed try try again it's not failure it's just a hiccup pick yourself up dust yourself down and don't give up trying don't give yourself a hard time even if it takes ages you will do it in the end. The first time I tried to give up I freaked out and cried for ages I was scared of being without a cigarette hubby said don't matter just never give up trying. He gave up a few years before me with the help of a group and Champlx tablets keep your chin up be happy xxx
