I use advair 250, 1 spiriva, pro air, if needed, or nebulizer uf needed. Sometimes they work. I find if I take advair & spiriva close together, & wait 20 minutes or so to get moving, they seem to work well. But if you are tired, nothing will work.

I was on the fence when dr gave me Spiriva for the first time. I really noticed a big difference when I took it. I still take Advair 250 twice a day & have my nebulizers or Proair if needed. Never tried Symacourt & was just given the new version of Spiriva. Haven't tried it yet but Dr. said that 's what will be given in the future.

Advair, symbicort and Spiriva are all maintenance meds. Their effect is generally cumulative and sometimes you don't notice the effect until you stop taking it. You don't get an immediate "kick" from them as you might from an albuterol inhaler. If you think Spiriva doesn't work, talk with your doc and see if you can't stop taking it for three weeks to a month and see whether you notice a difference. If you don't notice anything, you may want to stop taking it altogether.

It's rather dangerous to base your judgment of whether a med is good for you on what it does for others. COPD is very individual and how you respond to a med may be very different from someone else. You can certainly find out about things you might want to try, but before you ask about making major changes, learn about each of the meds you've been prescribed, find out why your doc prescribed that one instead of another in the same class, see whether there are gaps in your med regimen. In other words, do your homework!

@A MyCOPDTeam Member LuskI do use Symbicort only twice a day and find it to be very effective.Albuteral is my rescue inhaler.I use spireva at noon, and I find it to be absolutely useless.

@A MyCOPDTeam Member My understanding is Symbicort is only used as prescribed-not more than twice a day. There are rescue inhalers that you use throughout the day. Which are you asking about?
