Stages
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

If I'm at stage one how soon will I advance to the next stages, and what stage will I need to go on oxygen, I'm scared, I've always had a fear of drowning or suffocating

If you make the lifestyle changes you should make: no smoking, exercise 30 minutes daily, good diet and take your meds, get you flu shots, stay away from people with bugs and get to your doc ASAP when you do get something, with a little luck you may not ever progress to the next stage. It takes hard work and discipline, but it's certainly possible. Quit smoking and start and exercise program with at least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise daily and you could be fine for years and never need O2.

Exercise keeps it at bay. It has helped me more than I could ever believe. I was in bad shape until I started working out. It changed everything. Good luck

Hi, I would suggest you not get so worried about stages of COPD, rather take your meds, exercise and stay away from sick people. Get pneumonia shot, flu shot and see doc when you feel all is not right. Go by how your feeling, that is more important than "stages". That is different for most everyone. You may never go beyond where you are now. Stress and worry make everything worse anyway. Good luck and God Bless.
