My COPD is fairly mild at the moment. No oxygen, just two inhalers. I visited Canada in 2015 and my time in the plane was fine, no problem at all. Just the long walks at the various airports put a lot of strain on me. Other than that, I enjoyed the flight tremendously, despite it being my first ever time in an aeroplane! :)

Members rallied around someone asking about flying with COPD to visit family in Canada, with the most common advice being to request wheelchair assistance at every airport when booking the flight to avoid the exhausting long walks between gates. Several members shared personal experiences confirming that flying itself is generally manageable with COPD, especially with inhalers on hand, while noting that large airports like Schiphol can be the biggest challenge. A recurring theme was to get a doctor's note ahead of travel, notify airlines in advance of any needs, and that wheelchair assistance can even speed up the security process.

Thank you! A couple of my friends have already suggested that I ask for assisted flying when I book my flight. :)

Use a wheelchair when walking in the airports. Notify ahead of time. Works just great. Even get thru the security faster. I totally recommend this

I have never really had a problem flying. I get a bit more tired but most people do as traveling is a bit stressful on all of us.
