Hello. I have had COPD for 3 years. My doctor just ordered Spiriva powder capsules for me to use along with my Ventolin and Spiromax. I do not feel any benefit from the Spiriva yet-does it take a while to improve my breathing?
Yes, generally, it can take as much as six weeks to realize the benefit, and it's often very gradual. Sometimes people don't think it's doing anything because the improvement is so gradual. It's a maintenance med, just like your Spiromax, but a different class of med that used different receptors to work.
I didn't think spiriva helped me until I went a few days without it. Big difference. I take it everyday now.
@A MyCOPDTeam Member, I used Spiriva powder capsules for a long time, they helped me a lot. Then a couple years ago started using the spiriva respimat, like that better. I also use Seravant and rescue inhaler. Seems new meds take awhile to work, I always want everything to work yesterday. I need to practice having more patience. Good luck.
yes but don't forget to take it .
you may think its not working, but it is. if you quit taking it you will see that it is working
