I got off of the powder inhalers and went to a mist which made a difference. I also do mucinex and Myrtol 300 a product from German that helps the produce with mucus. I also eat foods that lessen mucus and inflammation and make sure I drink plenty of healthy fluids. You have to work it and be very pro active.

everyone speaks of mucinex as "the best!!" I find that it makes me cough twice as much and produces twice as much mucus. I know it's suppose to make things easier to expel, but my throat is hamburger from all the coughing.

You need to talk with your doc about this and see what she might suggest. There are several things you could suggest to her along the way. OTC meds that might help, including mucinex and NAC, cough syrup, etc. I would especially suggest that you talk about trying either Daliresp or azithromycin taken three times a week. Both are treatments specifically designed to reduce inflammation and mucous in the lungs, thus reducing coughs, exacerbations and hospitalizations.

If you're not seeing a pulmonolgist, I suggest you find one. You need someone who understands COPD, current meds and treatments.
