I just started NAC this week. Havenāt noticed anything so far.
So after my appointment yesterday the consultant say there is slight changes and he canāt rule out emphysema. I am hoping that if it is emphysema then it is mild, after a week of crying and being upset Iām determined to now not let this get me down. Im also trying not to google as some of the sites that come up just arenāt helpful. I know everyone is different etc but I was wondering who is in the mild stages and how long have you had mild emphysema for?
Thank you Jean! You are a "breath" of air to me. You explain things so well. In fact, I'm relieved to read your post on mild emphysema which I have. I probably have had it longer, but, I found out 3ā¦ read more

How do I know what stage I'm at?
There are four stages with stage four being the worse. The stages are mainly for doctors so they can determine what meds to give you. People live a long time with stage four!!!
I went for the second time to my indifferent pulmonologist, his technicien who took the PFT I believe did me wrong when he gave me the inhaler (1 puff) and waited less than two minutes to continue the test. I told the doc prior to taking the PFT that I just experience a flare up due to inhaling dust in my backyard, he brushed it off and asked me to do the PFT anyway which came not as good as the last one taking a year ago. Immidiately he prescribed Trelegy for me and albutrol even before lookingā¦ read more
Dear Youseff,
Where do you live and what teaching hospitals are near you?Kathy
On October 23, I was able to participate in the Nebraska Lung Force Expo in Omaha. Of particular interest to patients were two presentations, the first by Dr. Jenna Yentes, Ph.D. and the second by Dr. Bryan Krajicek

Hello everyone!
I would like to ask if anyone has trouble sleeping, because I do. I don't know if it is the albutrol although I onlu use once a day before bedtime, or is it just me thinking too much about my emphesyma and what the futur holds and adjusting to the new reality. Should I ask my doc for some sleep pills, is anyone using them?
Thanks to all
Have a wonderful day everyone
I take alprazalom(XANAX) it helps alot. Although the depression sucks. But at least I can sleep
Is there anyone here that still smokes after being diagnosed. I am looking for some support to quit. I have attempted it several times since my diagnoses and have failed terribly. The patches, gum, vape pens and even cold turkey (which I wouldn't recommend)! The Doctor won't put me on Chantix because I suffer from Severe Major Depression and the side effects wouldn't be good for me!!! Two weeks ago I had an exacerbation and the E.R doctor ordered chest x-ray.s He came back after reading themā¦ read more

I have never had any trouble not wanting to go into buildings or appointments, and in the first year of Covid I did pretty well, even though I had moved to a place where I didn't know anyone, and I didn't fit in very well with the neighbors I met, who were mostly married couples. I walked almost every day, until it got too hot and read and did puzzles and made jewelry that was just a hobby
I knew how high risk I was but still had to do things like go into the pharmacy for a prescription, andā¦ read more
No worries but Jean's reply was the last straw, and I am at least standing up for myself. I appreciate the apology and hope you have a nice night too.
