Weight loss surgery can be very helpful, but you have to keep it off. I suggest that you look into Bariatric surgery. As for stem cells, it's a scam. Save your money. There's no scientific evidence anywhere that current treatment with stem cells has any positive effect on COPD: no reduction in meds, or O2 usage, no increase in six minute walk results, np measurable reduction in sob or oximeter results over time, NO NOTHING! It's a scam.

There have been successful stem cell treatments developed for other conditions, but not for COPD. If your insurance won't pay and the FDA has not approved and they're asking you to pay for it; it's a scam.

Has anyone explored stem cell therapy or looked into Mayo clinic for trials? I have COPD, pulmonary fibrosis and a small tumor in my right lung. I will start radiation this week for 5 weeks, 5 times a week. 5 years ago I had stage 1 lung cancer and had a line removed so I am not eligible for surgery this time.
Thanks for your help.

Read article that China is making good progress in stem cell research but the cure they say is about 5 years off. They have had good results in re-growing lung tissue.
