Vitamins
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

Are vitamins beneficial? I take B12 and D3 . I feel better, however, my internist said she only recommends D3.. my CBC (blood) is normal.

I take Calcium citrate with Vitamin D, I have severe osteoporosis and have a non traumatic fracture. I luckily got into a program, screening, education, exercise classes and they do your vit D blood levels , so I'm to take 2800iu.
That where I found out the Calcium Carbonate I'd been taking for years wasn't being absorbed due to proton pump inhibitors.
In general citrate is more fully absorbed then carbonate.

Agreed. Most of these wonderful vitamin supplements help only the seller of the item more than the one who makes the purchase.

If you do not need B12 then you should not take a supplement of it. Obviously your doctor ran the appropriate labs to check that level and you are "normal". Do not mess with success. If you do over time there are side effects to too much B12 that may leave you regretting the advice to discontinue the supplement.
Save the money you are spending on B12 for something else you will get some enjoyment from is my advice.

As a woman you should be taking Calcium with Vit D to protect you against osteoporosis after menopause unless doing so causes kidney stones. Vit C does not build up in your body using normal doses; most excesses of it will be excreted in your urine. B12 you should not supplement without your doctor's advice when they run labs on your B12 level. If your B12 is low they will tell you how much to supplement daily. All B12 supplements should be orally dissolvable lozenges; if you take B12 in pill form most of it will be destroyed by your stomach acid rendering the majority of it useless and of no benefit.
