I've been diagnosed with Asthma but my Dr puts me on a copd inhaler wonder why
That's a long acting muscarinic agent. It's designed specifically for people with COPD to smooth out the bronchial airways. You should ask your doc why that one was prescribed, as it's not indicated for asthma and I don't think it's approved for asthma. My doc originally told me I had asthma, even though we both knew I had COPD; he just didn't want to call it that. Maybe your doc is doing the same thing.
I believe some of the inhalers are more specific to COPD
people with asthma being a main indicator. My husband can’t use one he wanted to try because it’s more specific to asthma.
So which inhaler were you prescribed? I'm guessing Symbicort, Advair, Dulera or Brio, all of which work for asthma and are used for asthma regularly. My guess is that you probably also have COPD, and many of the inhalers we use for COPD were originally designed for asthma. The two conditions are very similar and my guess is that your asthma is NOT completely reversible. If it's not completely reversible, as demonstrated by spirometry or a PFT, then it's got a good COPD component to it.
