I am a great believer in listening to what is required by the body showing the patient. This leaves scope for a wide range of remedies tablets and not having tablets. Personally i believe tolerances to drugs increase when theyre taken and its a carousel not needed for all COPD related illnesses.
If you're always under 88, you qualify for supplementary O2, and if you don't use it, you're courting right heart failure and brain damage. No, that's not normal, whether or not you have COPD. Normal for anyone is 95 - 99. Chronically low O2 saturation levels can be lethal eventually. Many people with COPD get by with saturation levels of 90 - 95; I prefer to be sure my O2 saturation levels are where normal people's saturation levels are.
There are no hard and fast rules to apply. COPD can be caused by smoking. However not all who smoke have this medical condition.
Medication and oximeters etc can be useful but also create problems associated with increasing tolerance.
Best not to take medication until its essential and same for oximeter levels which invariably create a dependency physical and psychological.
No it's not normal 88and lower can be serious. Take care
If your O2 level is below 88 your in trouble & in need of O2 period.
