What do you all think about hydromorphone 6mg being used to relax the respiratory system because that is what i use and it seems to be helping me breath easier...This is what my pharmacist told me is what the effects of the hydromorphone 6mg are having on my COPD.
Prescribing morphine for people with COPD who are in the advanced stages of the disease offers tremendous relief from the "air hunger" that people often experience. It's a common problem and a common solution.
I haven't either, but that's what I hear from friends whose disease is way more advanced than mine. Morphine helps them with the feeling that they just can't get enough air, which is common at the late stages of the disease. Being stage 4 doesn't mean that you're anywhere near the end.....I know people who've been at stage 4 for 20 years and are still going strong.
Maintenance therapy you can do after doing the Pulmonary rehabilitation programme. It's once a week for an hour, doing same exercises that you.do in the Pulmonary rehabilitation programme, I'm not sure if every where offers maintenance. Where if I go we pay £5 for it. As well as keeping you motivated also have a good laugh. Ask your respiratory Nurse about it. I hope this information is of help. Take care xxx
Is this the same as morphine? I take morphine for my pain.
Thank you @A MyCOPDTeam Member this has been very helpful. Hugs to you!!
