What is the Difference between Emphysema and Bronchitis ?
I cough and bring up Mucus during the day. My doctor , after several experiments with different products and we have some to the conclusion that " Anoro" works well for me. It does during the day but when evening comes. I , every so often, have Coughing fits. What am I missing here? Have I been misdiagnosed or is there something else going on. If so, what?

Chronic bronchitis occurs when there's damage to the bronchial tubes, usually from some irritant being inhaled. Emphysema is damage to the alveoli in the lungs and has to do with the ability to exchange gases: CO for O2. Most of us have elements of both diseases, hence the umbrella term COPD. You're exhibiting symptoms of both, which is pretty normal for most of us. Anoro is a LAMA/LABA combination. The only thing you might consider adding to your inhaled meds is an ICS; an inhaled steroid.

You should probably talk with your doc regarding the coughing that begins in the evening. He might have some ideas besides lots of water and mucinex.

@A MyCOPDTeam Member A Pulmonologist might be able to give you a better answer. but a PCP is a good start.

Thank you all. I will speak to my Primary Doctor on this subject. She might have a few suggestions on how I may be able to control the Coughing in the evening?

@A MyCOPDTeam Member, I read that the main difference between Bronchitis and Emphysema is Bronchitis produces frequent coughing with much mucous, while the main symptom of Emphysema is shortness of breath.
