Has anyone had them installed?
Many people have had the Zephyr valves placed and most of them have had success. One of the common problems, however, is a collapsed lung, so this may not be something you wish to consider. However, before you decide, I would suggest that you find a center or clinic that does the procedure and get evaluated. No one's going to even consider you until you've been evaluated, and that may help you learn more about your COPD and you'll definitely learn a lot more about the valves, what's required to qualify and your own situation.
Hi, @A MyCOPDTeam Member - there’s lots of surgical options for COPD if your version would be helped by such treatments:
- transplants
- ablations of the lungs surface
- zephyr (or bronchial) valves
- lung volume reduction surgery
There may be more kinds, but those are the ones I’m sure of off the top of my head. Talk to your respiratory therapist or pulmonologist to understand what kind of COPD you have, and if any of the possible invasive or non-invasive techniques might help you breathe easier and improve your quality of life.
Not a doc or medical professional, but knowledge is power, so do your own research and ask lots if questions of the experts on your medical care team.
