COPD manifests itself so individually that what puffers work for you won't necessarily work for the next person. Your doc will undoubtedly prescribe something for you and it may or may not work very well. If it doesn't work well, you can try the next manufacturer's version of the same class of medication; it may work well or not any better than the last one. Each manufacturer makes a LABA, a LAMA and and maybe an ICS. Those are the major medication classes for COPD. Each manufacturer has a patent on the molecules that make up their med, so they're all different chemicals. Therefore, even though they're in the same class, each manufacturer takes a different route to get to the receptor they're aiming for. That's why people respond to different medications so differently. So don't assume that what works for one person will work for you. It's interesting information to have, but it won't necessarily help you.
I used Adviar and Combivent for years. Within the last year I've switched to Trelegy. It's a triple therapy (one each of the same class of meds as Advair and Combivent); just different chemicals.
