age 60, for pass 10 years mostly just coughed stuff up. but got bad cold before xmas, now I suddenly jam up (the mucus gets stuck) bought a nebulizer and doc just gave me2.5 salbutamol. Also us a aerobika and found mouth moisturizer helps, use tens machine to vibrate chest etc... any other advice or tricks to get that phlegm up. a secret huff cough or something.
Drink lots of water and keep using your aerobika.
A Hall's Mentholupus cough drop will usually help me. They are so nasty tasting that I have to cough. It is imperative you get the phlegm up and out of you. Last year was really bad for me but it's going to get better and think positive, it will for you too.

yes I started to do that few months back. Though I have to admit I never thought of water being so important. but Im going to post some dumb examples I have figured out, maybe people have more.
someone gave me a cpap machine years ago, I let it fill my lungs well I huff cough into it 3 times
A old pill bottle I poked 2 holes the size of a dart at bottom. I blow hard into it and it creates back pressure.
mouth moisturizer spray, try to find non flavoured ones.
Sip down a bit of Olive oil, lubes up the throat
blow hard on that aerobika machine, don't baby it.
hot water bottles hung around front and back of chest (found them at a dollar store) guess you could use a heating pad if you got the $$
Doctor Hoe tens machine to vibrate my chest
A lot of these you may notice you wont find on the net. Plus last day or 2, maybe I was always told this from watching so many vids etc. But if you do jam up, do that purse lip breathing 3 or 4 times, huff cough. ,,,,, repeat if needed . Sometimes I do the olive oil or even some water in-between. before I would only huff cough. So now its a few purse lip breathing, then huff cough :)
so if anyone has dumb ones, some strange thing they did to get that thick mucus up
When I have issues with thick mucus, I know I am dehydrated and start drinking water with electrolyte powder.
thank you both. work construction so set up a 30 degree incline cot/bed type thing. Sorta tried the postural drainage but cold only try on my stomach. I was getting better maybe a few weeks back. Could at least start getting stuff up trying every trick in the book. Might have to post some of my finds . Just one night a trick works, and the next day it dont. Today I was jammed up for about 7 hours. Finally got un jammed after being awake for 48 plus hours now. See if I can get to sleep now, but have had a rattle or gurgle in throat which I have never had before :(
