Has Anyone Developed Agoraphobia Since Covid Closed Everything Down In March Of 2020?
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have never had any trouble not wanting to go into buildings or appointments, and in the first year of Covid I did pretty well, even though I had moved to a place where I didn't know anyone, and I didn't fit in very well with the neighbors I met, who were mostly married couples. I walked almost every day, until it got too hot and read and did puzzles and made jewelry that was just a hobby
I knew how high risk I was but still had to do things like go into the pharmacy for a prescription, and… read more

I am so sorry for jumping in where I had no business jumping @A MyCOPDTeam Member. One of these days I will learn to keep my mouth shut when I don't know the whole story. I apologize. I hope you can have a good night anyway. Hugs!

It sounds paralyzing and I'm sorry the meds aren't helping. It must be really difficult. I understand about not being able to control or improve any of it, except in the way you deal with it, and probably that's what you need to concentrate on. You are on meds, but you don't say you're getting any therapy. If that's the case, I would look for a good therapist who can help you figure out how YOU respond to all the situations and family issues and what YOU can do to change how things affect you.

My problems are probably very different from yours, but the most important thing I learned from my therapist was how to evaluate my responses so that I could take care of myself first and maybe help someone else after that. It's a hard lesson to learn, but you're no good to anyone if you're left a quivering heap of jelly. Find a therapist and figure out how to take care of yourself.

No worries but Jean's reply was the last straw, and I am at least standing up for myself. I appreciate the apology and hope you have a nice night too.

What makes you think I haven’t been trying to help myself? I work at it all the time but with a 74-year-old wasband with dementia to provide for I don't always get to pick and choose what I want to do, or when. Jean suggesting I am doing nothing to help myself is incorrect, and being described as a "quivering heap of jelly" was mean. Kaiser has ongoing video group classes on panic and many others as anxiety and depression and I have done them all in the last 2 years and they are ongoing because there are new people looking for help every day. When I said "suit up and show up" to @A MyCOPDTeam Member it's something from Al-Anon and a validation that as tiring as it is, she does it anyway and that is wonderful for her and her friends and family.
