Hi @A MyCOPDTeam Member -
"Z-pak" is a common BRAND name for the antibiotic medicine Azithromycin. It is dispensed in a blister-pill design packaging and intended to be taken for a certain time frame ONLY. In addition to fighting infections, IT helps dry up congestion SO you have to drink a lot of water when taking it. Here's the skinny on what it is often used for;

Be well.

Funny you asked .... I just said the same thing to my daughter this morning. Currently on a Z-Pak. It has caused me some coughing of phlegm, but at least everything is clear. Thinking of taking an allergy tablet along with it.

Thank you for the @A MyCOPDTeam Member it is so hard to sort some of these things out. Postnasal drip is annoying but not a problem but mucus in your lungs can be a big problem. Every input helps here 😃

What Myrna2 said. I luckily do not cough up mucous. Maybe once or twice every few months I will have a coughing spell, usually brought on by a piece of food getting stuck in my throat. I cough it up, eventually, along with some mucous and then I/m good to go. I do have to clear my throat a lot, I think from postnasal drip. I should have it checked out.

Good questions, I am not sure of the answer, but I do have the postnasal drip and my I presume it is my allergies. I have had that for years before I was recently last year diagnosed with COPD. I have nasal prescriptions that help with the drip. I guess it also can be a combination of both since emphysema, also produces mucous. You might speak to your😃 pulmonologist for a more accurate answer. .
