I have had a surgery and the purpose was far from LVRS; however, the end result could be compared to lung volume reduction surgery. Upper and lower right lung. It was VATS surgery. Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery. A Bullectomy and Pleurectomy. No scalpel. “Just” a small tube inserted between my ribs that has all kinds of equipment in it. Amazing. The Director of Cardiovascular Surgery, Emory University Hospital was at the helm.
