Hi Eulla. Any major illness can knock your legs from under you. It takes time to get back to a semblance of "Regular". Normal will be what you make IT from here on out.
You don't say if your were recently hospitalized or had an infection or something. You should know that staying hydrated is very important with this Respiratory disease. You can build up strength doing simple things like carrying a water jug on the way to using the bathroom. Leave one there too in case you forget you will have something to carry back. Do arm lifts and stretches with a large can of Arizona tea. If you do 5 sets of 10 lifts you would have lifted over 60 pounds. Trust me.
In the near future, ask your Docs about getting assigned to a Pulmonary Rehab class near you. Nurse will monitor your exercises and meeting others with heart or lung problems will give you information and confidence that things can improve for you. You will also learn your real limits too. Keep other around you informed about how you feel and remind you to take a break when you think you should be trying to keep up instead. With COPD, we trade in our race cars for something more like a GO cart. š. But we still gotta keep it movin'. Be well.
Getting into Pulmonary Rehab will be very helpful. Not only will it get you moving and getting stronger, if it's a good PR program, you'll get a lot of really good information you'll be able to use to make living a bit easier. It's really worth doing.
Iāve been having trouble catching my breath. My doctor gave me 5, 20 mg. Prednisone for the next five days and what a difference. Itās such a shame with the side effects. I havenāt felt any side effects, but I think there are many and you wouldnāt notice them right away. Iām going to get some bloodwork done and weāll take it from there. I just felt like myself. I felt like my former self and oh, what a feeling! Thatās how Iām feeling today. Thank you for asking. Itās 6 PM in the evening now, so I hope everyone had a good day and have a lovely evening.
