Does anyone's doctor prescribe Azithromycin to you as a medicine taken all the time? Mine does. I take three times a week . Does anyone else?
Azithromycin is a standard antibiotic often prescribed on a daily or every other day basis for respiratory issues, specifically to reduce frequent exacerbations. Daliresp is a med that is also designed to reduce frequent exacerbations. There is a study going on right now called RELIANCE that is a head to head comparison between the two meds to see which one is more effective and for whom. We have no answers yet, and COVID really got in our way (the study actually began enrolling patients in 2020, just before COVID hit. We hope to finish the study in two years and may have preliminary data in the next year.
Yes I actually found it works better than prednisone which is a steroid they had me in for years which really isn’t good for the body .So he niw gives me azyhromiacin instead of antibiotic also because I really don’t have a bacterial infection but have clogged up longs . I’ve only had the 3 day and the five day nit long term yet
I am also taking it 3 times a week. I am also on budesonide through my nebulizer 2 times a day. My pulmonologist wanted to try the inhaled steroids before putting me permanently on prednisone.
Hi I’m sue I was taking azithromycin which I found really helpful. Whilst taking it 3 times a week I had no flare ups and stayed well. I’m not taking it now and only had 1 flare up.I don’t think you can stay on them indefinitely .
i take it everyday, and have been taking it for close to 3 yrs now, along with 20 mg of predizone twice a day, and will be for the rest of my life
