My Dr Wants To Put Me On O2 But I Feel Like I’m Not Ready And Breathing Fine. What Are The Pros And Cons.

My 02 levels are 85 to 99 during the day but dip at night. I get my readings from my Apple Watch.

Nice Watch!
Keep in mind that is not a medical grade device but can be helpful to head off any sudden changes to your Saturation levels. Your DOC is going by the book. She clearly has readings and responses from you which indicates you are a candidate for supplemental Oxygen. I have tried without success to get my Doc to look at reports from digital devices I use. Including Inhaler dose tracking. They're NOT having IT!

You will get other opinions here - most should say having Oxygen is not all that bad. Remember having your own Oxygen supply doesn't help you breathe any better. It just helps ensure you don't have any brain or organ damage when you can't. Like when your blood levels are out of balance which causes CO2 to build up and send you to the ER. 🚑 NO watch is going to tell you when you are in those Danger Zones! be Well.

Hi Lynne100,
Doctors are usually right, they must have tested your 02 saturation with a pulse oximeter on your finger, before making a decision.Did they ????
How long is 85% saturation goes on for 5 minutes or 1 hour???
If you feel breathless and tired then your body needs a additional O2 because of your lung damage.
With additional O2 it will make life better, with out it —-
Your choice.

@A MyCOPDTeam Member 85 is too low to spend very much time with. If it stays that low a lot of time your brain and body are not getting what they need to keep you healthy.
02 at night is easy to get used to and should be paid for you by Medicare or your insurance. I would also question the accuracy of your Apple watch, because 02 saturation is usually measured on a finger, not on your wrist.
