@A MyCOPDTeam Member - I recently calculated that for my taxes. (I itemize & the electricity needed to run the concentrator is an itemized deduction.) My deduction came to $531.44. I estimated that I use my concentrator about 20 hrs per day (the other 4hrs are on portable E tanks for going to church or out to lunch, etc.). Best I can recall, the formula is volts X amps = watts X 0.001 = 0.52 KWH X 7300 hrs (this was my 20 hrs/da X 365 days/yr) = whatever number you came up with X the cost of what you are charged per KWH. Since it is hard to put into a formula, I'll just print out how I arrived at the $531.44. Before I do tho, check your concentrator - there will be a tag or imprint on it somewhere, giving you the volts & amps, etc. So, Ready? Mine used 120 volts X 4.3 Amps = 516 watts X 0.001 = (rounded to) 0.52 KWH X 7300 hrs (20 hrs/daX 365 days) = 3796 X 0.14/KWH = 531.44. (The 0.14 was what the elec company charged me per kwh for my electricity.)

Keep in mind that each brand/model concentrator may vary as per usage, but this will be close. Also, when using the above calculation, don't forget to put the decimals in their proper place or you may get some figure that will scare the pants off of you. lol

The cost is minimal. My elec bill went up about $10.00 per month and I run my concentrator 20 to 24 hrs a day.... only have it off when I go somewhere. I was told keeping hte filter clean and dust free helps the efficiency.

On just night time it went up $25 but now that it is 24/7 it is pretty close to $50 and I live in an apt. But do have 1100 sq. ft. So it is a tad high but so are smokes. Good luck and breathe well.
