Thankyou Jean i didnt get the report the nurse said she couldnt give me it i just looked at it . I have to go back on friday for my review then i will ask for a copy . I was diaganosed with mild copd in 2013
Usually the results on a report of spirometry or a PFT go like this:
Predicted, followed by a number like 2.92 L, meaning liters
Actual, followed by another number like 2.81 L
Percent predicted, followed by a percentage like 92%
The percent predicted is what one would expect someone of your height, weight, sex, age and ethnicity to blow. The actual is what you blew and the percentage represents how close you were to the predicted value.
So based on the FEV1 percentage, you don't have COPD. HOWEVER, without all the other numbers on the test, that's not necessarily accurate. You did the right thing by getting a copy of the test report. Now you need t go back and have someone explain it t you in terms you can understand.

Normal Values FEV1 80 – 120% of predicted is a normal value 70 – 80% demonstrates mild reduction/restriction 50 – 70% demonstrates moderate reduction <50% demonstrates severe reduction
Thankyou Jack i just looked at the print out and i couldnt make head or tail of it
