Has Anyone Going To Wait While Taking Breo Inhaler
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

Is anyone taking the inhaler Breo? I’ve been on it two years and gained about 17 pounds. I do everything to try to lose it and it does not come off. I have noticed my hair is also tanning.

There's really nothing in the Breo inhaler that should cause a weight gain. The inhaled steroid typically doesn't do that. Weight gain is pretty much a matter of calories in exceeding calories used. If you really want to lose the weight, talk with a dietitian, develop a meal plan and way of cooking that will help you, learn about portion control and talk with your doc about starting an exercise program. I can pretty well guarantee that if you start exercising daily and watching your diet closely, you'll lose the weight.

Breo did not help me either. I use Pro Air, Qvar and neb treatments with Duo if needed. Also do the 5 day pred and ER if not any better.

I just went on Breo, just started seeing a pulmonoligist and I have stage 4 copd, the Breo seems to help only been on it a couple weeks? I don't have much of an appetite but sweets I eat, see what happens with the weight gain also take Combivent Respimat which is in my inhaler and nebulizer.....Good luck to you!!

I have been using Breo for about 2 years and it seems to be keeping things under control. I was previously using Advair when a first visit to a pulmonologist told me to stop taking it ( I have asthma & COPD) having been taking it for many years I tapered off the Advair. THEN had a major exacerbation and unknowingly was having asthma attacks as well. Was hospitalized overnight given much Predinsone IV and next pulmonologist appointment was with nurse practitioner who tested me in office and said you have asthma and need inhaler -so she put me on Breo instead of Advair probably because it was a bit newer. So the one Dr just about killed me and the NP saved my life. As to the weight gain...I have had the same trouble with both the Advair and Breo no matter what I eat and how much exercise I try to do I cannot get the weight off. I sometimes gain 2 lbs in 1 day..I know that is water weight but it is discouraging to see the scale go back up yet again. I am also hyperthyroid so that does not help the situation at all. I too blame it on the meds in both Advair and Breo...but am not sure. If you find out let us know please!!
