donnagoor, I hope the doc who told you the valves wouldn't work for you has experience placing the valves and made his statement based on the evaluation you had done by the center where the valve treatment would have been done.

The Zephyr valves have been approved for use in the US for about three years now and have been in use in Europe for about 15 years. They are placed in the lungs and essentially close off damaged areas of the lungs to help reduce air-trapping. They essentially do the same thing that LVRS does without the major surgery aspect. In order to have the valves placed, you must be evaluated and meet the criteria. There are centers available around the country where the valves have been placed. Valves, vents, glue and steam have been tested in the US since 2000 and many of the procedures have been in use in Europe and other countries for a number of years.

yeah Dr said it is good but it won't work for me

I looked into having the valves and turned down as not suitable due to having alpha A anti tripsin deficiency
I was told you can’t have the valves if you have this type of COPD felt deflated but what will be will be
