And I would say keep moving as much as you can, maybe just walking around the house some.
You've probably pulled muscles and ligaments; easy to do when you're coughing hard. Alternating ice packs and heat may help reduce the pain somewhat. Ibuprofen will help as well. Get some treatment for the cough from your pulmonologist. Anything you can do to thin out the mucus and get it moving easily will help even though you're still coughing. Lots of water, mucinex, nebulized albuterol, nebulized saline solution, NAC, will all help. Learn about coughing and the role it plays in COPD. Hi JohnBilsbarrow.
I'm not a doctor, but I have used ice packs to eliminate pain a time or two. I leave the ice pack on the painful area for about 15 minutes and the pain will disappear.
My Mother who was a registered nurse got me started in using ice packs. She was nursing when people gave birth at home, before hospitals became the norm.
Stay safe, breathe easy.😊
