IMO azithromycin I think is more to keep bugs and colds away. I bugged my doctor for it, plus was on it when my being jammed up with Mucus started. For me I had to ask myself what's different with me since I got jammed up. One was post nasal drip and the other was being dehydrated. Taking OTG nose meds like Clairton and sinutab were making me more dry. But then it dawned on me I switched over to a different medication for pain. So think of a life style change you may of done ,,,

I'm curious as to why you would choose azithromycin as opposed to Daliresp; you doc might be far more willing to prescribe Daliresp since it's not an antibiotic. I'm currently working on a study called RELIANCE where we're actually trying to compare the two meds to see if one is better than the other and for whom. You might let your doc know that, too. If you're talking about a dry cough, that's a different kind of problem than mucus producing coughs.
I would suggest that you talk with your pulmonologist about your issues with mucus and how many exacerbations you have every year. One thing to consider is being tested for bronchiectasis; a condition which you may have. If you're having two or more exacerbations a year and are being hospitalized for one of them, you are a candidate for either roflumilast (Daliresp) or for azithromycin taken three times a week. Both have been clinically tested and FDA approved for this usage. Another thing to consider is a full-on attack of your mucus issues: mucinex, NAC, a PEP device (aerobika or acapella), nebulized saline, percussion (another person pounding your back to loosen the mucus), postural drainage and/or a percussion vest. Breztri won't hurt, but I don't think it won't resolve the mucus issue. If your pulmonologist doesn't consider these alternatives, I'd suggest you find someone who actually helps patients.
