Water is probably the first thing we think of when it comes to staying hydrated. It is convenient, and we can get it in and away from home. But a lot of what we eat and drink has a high moisture content too. A lot of my hydration actually tastes like sweet tea, fruit juices and chicken noodle soup most days. Watermelon too.

Warm liquids probably do a lot more to help thin mucus in the throat and airways. For me, cold drinks always seemed to tightened up the throat and hinder breathing. Every BODY is different though.

Take a look for this product - LiquidIV. It is a powdered addition for water drinks. It comes in many flavors and has the missing electrolytes most other drinks lack anyway. Strong but tasty!

Yes drinking cold water does make mucus worse according to Google. I just learned something as I drink cold water and my mucus has increased in last 6 months, more then ever. I have now switched to reg. tap water and mucus has decreased.

And I drink some CARBONATED water if I feel a buildup of mucus. It thins it better than plain water. I can drink either warm or cold water @A MyCOPDTeam Member. June 27, 2023

For me cold water is not good with asthma. I’ve been advised to drink warm liquids and hot herbal teas
