Wheezing
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

What medications will stop wheezing after you take all that are prescribed?
Are you given zpacks , prednisone or what does doctor prescribe?
Thank you.

@A MyCOPDTeam Member....I'm feeling better today. Using the nebulizer about every four hour's and Claritin is helping. The humidity is very high here in Michigan .

I had them at home about a year and half ago. I kept thinking that I was having exacerbations when I actually had clots in both of my lungs. I finally gave up and went to ER where they accurately diagnosed and treated me. I won't keep them in my home since. I am not qualified to diagnose myself. Luckily I am ok but that could have had a very different outcome.

@A MyCOPDTeam Member.....thank you for your reply. Because of travel, that is so helpful for you to have on hand. I never ask for antibiotics or any medicine from my doc in advance, however, .we tend to know when symptoms happen and a lot of tests and hospitalizations could be avoided if we DId have some on hand. My doc just states to come to office or go to ER. I may be looking to find another doctor.. Last Dec. I was hospitalized with pneumonia and I hope this doesn't happen to any of group.Maybe this topic might bring some more insight to our group. Thanks for listening as THE fall of the year is the worst.. Hugs!

I keep antibiotics on hand, but not prednisone since I avoid taking it if at all possible and the last time I had to dig it out, it was seven years old and I had to get a new prescription anyway! My pulmonologist and I decided I should keep it on hand since it will maintain for several years after expiration (maybe not seven years!), and I travel a lot. I pay more attention now, and get a new prescription every so often. It makes it much easier to deal with something when I'm not home. I start taking whatever seems to be necessary and call my pulmo ASAP to tell him everything that I'm doing. He calls me back with further instructions.
