Are you a member of the Alph-1 registry? They put out a quarterly magazine for us Alpha's. Please get checked for this by different agencies. I had tested negative four times at different hospitals and doctor's offices. Then one positive and one negative in the same hospital. Got checked again and it is positive. This test is not definitive, its weird because it is a very serious condition. But am going under the premise that I have Alpha-1 deficiency. Not taking anything for it.

I used to smoke. Quit in 2012. I’m very very fortunate. I have not had Covid yet and hopefully won’t. I’m so sorry that you had to go through that. I used to smoke a half a pack a day and I smoked for about 20 years. My long function is still reasonably well. I’m very fortunate. Although this past summer has been very tough on me with my breathing. I’ve been on prednisone a lot. We had a lot of smoke from the wildfires in Canada here in Massachusetts which was affecting me badly. I do have panic attacks and anxiety and depression. I take medication every day. I also have weekly infusions of Prolastin C, which is for the alpha one. I’m not sure if you have that or not. I also take Mucinex once a day and I nebulize three times a day, plus my inhalers. I have three siblings. My oldest sister and Alpha as well. She had a double lung transplant in 2008 and did not make it. Unfortunately my two brothers are only Mx and they have no issues. More than happy to chat anytime if you need someone to talk to. Do you do infusions? How is your lung function? Do you have an Alphanet coordinator?

I do and other horrible autoimmune brought on worse with covid 2x now...severe damage from covid probaly because i smoked. worst thing ever did to myself. when did you quit and how long did you smoke how msny a day. did smoking effect your stomach digestion too. what meds help you.. do you have panick attacks depression;

I am. I was diagnosed many years ago I am an ZZ. I know a lot of people through Alphanet. I’ve been on prolastin infusions since 2012. Where are you located steve9? Where did you get tested?
