Here are several techniques that can help manage mucus and reduce choking sensations:

• Practice pursed lip breathing - breathe in through your nose for 2 seconds, then purse your lips and exhale slowly for 4-6 seconds
• Try diaphragmatic (belly) breathing - place one hand on your chest and one below your ribs, focus on making your belly rise while keeping your chest still
• Follow your prescribed medication schedule carefully, especially bronchodilators and other inhaled medications For best results:

• Stay consistent with your treatment plan and take all medications as directed
• Consider asking your doctor about pulmonary rehabilitation programs that can teach you additional breathing techniques
• Keep up with your exercise routine as tolerated - this helps improve overall lung function
• Use your rescue medications if symptoms become severe

Remember to contact your healthcare provider if these techniques don't provide relief or if symptoms worsen.
