I was approved right away. But you have to wait six months for your first check to arrive. Then two years and six months for medicare. So while you are waiting for that, apply for medicaid. That helps with the medical part.

I think it was meant to be SSD, (Social Security Disability), there is also SSI, which is Supplemental Security Income, another program of Social Security providing supplemental income to low income families. Hope this helps.
