Do you use your nebulizer every day? When I was first diagnosed my doctor had me using my nebulizer 3 times a day which I did for a while, but usually only 2 times a day, as I seemed to run out of time. but as I began to feel better, I used it less and less and realized that I have not used it at all in the last couple of months.
My question is.......is it something you are supposed to do each day forever, or something you do when you are having more coughing and mucus. Right now I use… read more
Whether you use your inhaler every day depends a bit on what med you're nebulizing and whether it's supposed to be taken every day. It sounds like you have mebulized albuterol, or one of albuterol's cousins. That's the same med as what's in your rescue inhaler, so they're not supposed to be taken every day; only when you need them. If you have another med, say brovana, that's supposed to be taken every day and is a maintenance med, so you would want to use your nebulizer every day. It's important to know what med you are nebulizing and what it's supposed to do. Then you can answer your own question.
It's pretty typical to be given a nebulized med like albuterol and be told to use it three times a day when you've been ill. As you get better, you won't need it as much and eventually, you'll probably not use it at all. So what you experienced is very typical.
Good morning! I only use my nebulizer when I am really sick. I use spiriva respimat, Symbicort, and my rescue inhaler is ProAir. I told my doctor this. He was fine with it. But I would discuss it first with your pulmonologist. We are all different. What works for me, may not work for someone else. Good luck! Just keep moving!! 💃💃💃. Chris
LBangle, you should probably check with your doc about the Ipratropium Bromide and Albuterol Sulfate you are supposed to be nebulizing. That is the combination of meds found in Combivent, and since you're taking the Trelegy, you probably don't want to nebulize that because you would be overdosing on the LAMA. If you're doc is a pulmonologist, she should know that and if your doc is you primary care person, you need a pulmo. I think you need to have a conversation with someone who knows the COPD meds!
Great that you are better. The less medicine we put in our bodies the better BUT you need to let your doctor know what you are doing so that he knows about the improvements, If you start to feel short of breathe you can always go back to using the nebulizer
@A MyCOPDTeam Member......thanks and have fun at the gym! That is something I have to improve upon.....I need more exercise but have lots of knee pain I am dealing with. I am going to rehab for my knee to hopefully get it flexible enough to do the pulmonary rehab.
