it does make it worse try and settle it with some pursed breathing in through the nose and out through the lips [smell the roses blow out the candles]thats my description of pursed breathing good luck take care
Anxiety can certainly make your COPD symptoms worse; which is why it's a good idea to get some good counseling and learn how to manage and control the anxiety just like you learn to manage and control your COPD.
Yes anxiety is common without COPD
@A MyCOPDTeam Member, yes i get them especially in evenings when air is bad, when you panic its like when someone scares you, your body and muscles tense up,this includes your airways, then you hyperventilate causing you to retain carbon dioxide. The hard part is to slow your breathing try counting back from 100 and put a wet towl around your neck,it will cool the blood down going to your brain and help you breathe,or at least it helps me.after a while when you feel one coming on you will be better prepared,oh yes i forgot the pursed lips breathing,if you lean over a table that sometimes helps also. hope helps you out good luck,it will get better it is not a sign the end is near, far from it..good luck, take care friend..
Yes it is for me...stress and anxiety are not good for us.
When it does happen relax and take slow in and out breaths.
