It's kind of personal but just wondering if I'm alone on this or not? I have panic attacks in the shower. Am I alone? Does anyone else have issues bathing?

Everyone seems to have an issue with it. You are not alone. Many people have responded with ideas that help them manage the shower. I started taking anti anxiety meds and modified how I showered. I don’t like it but I am no longer gasping for air. What worked for me was an open shower door, a cool room and a place to sit in the shower. I use a hand held and also use it attached to the wall. I take my oxygen in with me and wash my hair with it on. If it is a hard day I know I can turn the water off and sit until I relax enough to dry off. Slowly and carefully seems to help me. I dry off on the shower bench. Just read a lot of suggestions and know that you will find some that work for you.

Showering is something that can be daunting if you're really having trouble breathing. Using cooler water, having a shower chair and a hand held shower head, along with an open door or curtain at the back of the shower so you still get some air movement and a fan can all help. Keep your 02 on; you can run the hose over the shower curtain rail if that works best for you; I just bring the hose in on the floor at the door and it works fine. It's also nice to have a big terry robe you can bundle up in as soon as you get out and a chair to sit in. You can dry off in the robe without using a towel at all.

Well, it is good to find others are having this problem. Mine is simply, it is not a walk in shower, and, the tub is a "spa" tub that you can lay down in, so now way to us a chair it won't fit. My problem is first of all, getting into the tub with its high sides. I have added safety bars, but being in an apartment, I cannot use screws to hang them. Darn things fall off the walls as they are suction based. Not too assuring. It didn't occur to me 7 years ago when I rented this apartment that I would need a walk in shower. Who knew? Then to top this off, I have 2 thoracic fractures which I acquired the end of August. Either coughing or age (or both) brought this about. Oh well, enough of this stuff, at least I am still breathing.

I am still trying to figure out a way to have my daughter as my caregiver and get Medicaid to pay her for her help. I have insurance but need medicaid to have Nevada's help. Does anyone have any ideas? Would love to hear them if you have any suggestions. Many thanks, until then.
