Do people with COPD still smoke?

Yes, some MyCOPDTeam members do still smoke after their diagnosis, and many express frustration about trying to quit. It's a common struggle - you're definitely not alone in this.

One member shared: "Is there anyone here that still smokes after being diagnosed. I am looking for some support to quit..." Another said, "I've attempted it several times since my diagnosis and failed terribly. The patches, gum, vape pens, even cold turkey!"

However, many members have successfully quit and offer encouragement. For those who quit, COPD often became the wake-up call they needed. One member explained, "It came down to this---do you want to smoke or do you want to breathe?--breathing won!"

Important to remember:

- Many members quit and restart several times before finally quitting for good
- The advice from those who've succeeded: "Don't quit quitting"
- One member took eight attempts over a couple of years but called it "the absolute BEST thing I've ever done for myself"

Quitting is incredibly difficult, but members report that their breathing improves the longer they go without smoking. If you're still smoking or trying to quit, you're not alone in this challenge.
