I do chairs yoga every morning on my patio with a cup of coffee. It's more like stretching but it wakes up my body.

Managing exercise at Stage 3 with supplemental oxygen and back issues is a real challenge — but there are definitely gentle options that can help, and chair-based exercise is a great place to start!

Chair yoga and seated exercises are popular choices because they reduce strain on the spine while still keeping the body moving. Here are some other low-impact options that people with COPD find helpful:

- Chair yoga or seated stretching — gentle on the back and joints
- Tai chi — slow, controlled movements that are easy to modify
- Light upper body strengthening — helps strengthen respiratory muscles
- Short, slow walks — even brief ones can build endurance over time
- Pool or water exercises — buoyancy reduces pressure on the spine Before starting anything new, it's worth checking in with a doctor or pulmonary rehab team. They can tailor a safe plan around oxygen needs and back limitations.

Speaking of pulmonary rehab — many MyCOPDTeam members credit it as a game-changer, even at Stage 3 and 4. One member shared they've attended for 11 years and still feel it's keeping them going.

Two breathing techniques worth practicing during any activity:

- Pursed lip breathing — helps control breathlessness
- Diaphragmatic (belly) breathing — improves oxygen efficiency

Even small, consistent movement can make a real difference over time. Every little bit counts! 💪

Yoga puts me to sleep but I do squats push ups bend my knees and other things with about 2 to 4 cups of coffee and go use the restroom and then go for a long walk and then do yard work or clean the house
