Well drinking water helps. If it is thick you're not drinking enough water. There is Mucinex that you can take. But I have found Mullein tea or tincture to really cut my mucus production in half as well as lesson my coughing. [one or two cups a day] It is a lot cheeper than the Mucinex. I have also learned that 100% pure pineapple juice will also thin it, but I use it for my cough.
That is what works for me anyhow.

*As a disclaimer; with all supplements and herbal remedies it is best to clear it with your doctor.

What helps break up and loosen phlegm with COPD while using Breztri and Combivent Respimat?

Great question! While you're already using effective combination medications, there are additional strategies that can help manage phlegm.

Breathing Techniques

Pursed lip breathing and diaphragmatic breathing can help manage symptoms and may assist with clearing mucus. These techniques are especially useful when you notice increased breathlessness.

Stay Hydrated

Drinking plenty of fluids helps thin mucus, making it easier to clear from your airways.

Diet Considerations

Some people with COPD notice that dairy products like cheese and milk can make phlegm thicker. If you experience this, limiting dairy might help. However, if dairy doesn't worsen your phlegm, you can continue enjoying these foods.

Consider Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Pulmonary rehab teaches breathing techniques and exercises that can improve your overall breathing and help with mucus clearance.

Talk to Your Doctor

Your healthcare provider might suggest additional treatments like expectorants or adjustments to your current medication regimen to better manage phlegm production. They can provide personalized guidance based on your specific situation.
