I cough at night and get to the point where sometimes I pass out. I also have passed out from coughing while I am up and have injured myself several times. But, my main question is, can you choke to death from coughing, because you can't get mucous up? I take cough syrup and pills prescribed to help with coughing, but sometimes it doesn't help. Any suggestions appreciated.

Does everyone with COPD have a chronic horrendous cough? OR is the cough related to asthma? I have the chronic all the time. I have found that some of the coughing spells are triggered by several different smells. Anyone else experience. I do have asthma as well as the chronic bronchitis.
